Harley, our beloved Westie, brought boundless joy to our lives from the moment we rescued him. The day we welcomed him from Chilliwack, he was sad and disoriented, but as soon as he snuggled into our hearts, his true personality shone through.
My sister, who accompanied me on the rescue mission, formed an unbreakable bond with Harley. He sensed her presence and comfort, and their lifelong connection was sealed. ( Wilson, her dog also became Harley’s best mate)
On his first night with us, Harley claimed his spot between Peter and me, where he slept for the rest of his life. His daily routine dictated our schedule - early morning walks up Kirshner Mountain, exploring the hills and trails, and afternoon strolls through the neighborhood.
Harleyâ€s enthusiasm for walks was contagious. With his hunting instincts always on high alert, heâ€d fearlessly chase after mice, shrews, and even deer, undaunted by size or strength. His robust build and fearless spirit made him a force to be reckoned with.
Despite his rugged exterior, Harley had a delicate stomach, requiring a special diet of sautéed fresh lamb and veggies. His love of treats
knew no bounds; heâ€d do anything for a tasty reward.
Harleyâ€s unconditional love was his greatest gift. Heâ€d grow melancholy when one of us left, his big brown eyes filled with worry. The scars of being abandoned still lingered, but with us, he found his forever home.
Saying goodbye was agonizing. Our hearts shattered into a million pieces as we let go of our loyal companion. The silence in our home is deafening without Harleyâ€s little paws clacking on the wood floors. Our car feels empty without his presence between us.
We are eternally grateful to The Westie Rescues for bringing Harley into our lives. Thank you for giving us the gift of love, laughter, and adventure through our cherished boy.
Rest in peace, dear Harley. Your paw prints will forever be etched in our hearts.
