Butters

This beautiful girl is Butters. She was born on February 20, 2009 and sadly left us on November 13, 2025. Although Butters wasn’t a rescue of Westies Rescue of Canada, she was very much a friend. Over the years she attended the Annual Westie Walk, taking part in the squirrel chase, musical sit-and-stay, and even the dreaded weiner dunk. There was no better way to honour her than to have her remembered among so many beloved Westies.
Butters joined our family at just eight weeks old and stole our hearts immediately. She quickly established herself as the most important member of the household, and we gladly shaped our lives around her. Butters loved eating and napping, and she mastered many tricks, our favourite being the nose boop. She enjoyed countless walks over her lifetime, especially at Fraser River Park. In her senior years, these turned into stroller walks where she took in all the sights and smells at her own pace.
We cannot put into words all that Butters meant to us. She brought us joy, meaning, and purpose. It was the greatest gift to be her parents. We will miss her low Westie growl when her patience wore thin (particularly during family hug time), her soft paw taps when she wanted a treat or a share of whatever you were eating, giving kisses on her snout, and her snuggles offered entirely on her terms.
We loved this sweet girl with all of our hearts, and we look forward to the day we can see her again.
